An Introduction to Innovaris
Innovation is at the heart of all the developments we see around us in today’s business landscape. It’s not only about “keeping up with the times” for companies but more about developing the solutions of tomorrow. After several years of supporting businesses in various verticals we realize that management teams have questions. “Which innovation strategy should we pursue”? “When should we enter this market”? “How can we build up traction for our new product”? “How can we align our product portfolio with our growth strategy”? These are just some of the questions we receive from teams that we work with. In the past couple of years we have been building our brand and portfolio, working on innovative projects while creating long-lasting impact. However, we are often asked what we do and what kinds of projects we take on. In this article, we’ll go a bit deeper on what Innovaris is about and how we work.
Launched in 2015, Innovaris brings together a team of specialists and experts from a range of disciplines to help teams overcome challenges in three critical areas: innovation, technology and sustainability. Our solutions, projects and activities revolve around these core areas and form the basis of our value proposition to startups as well larger organizations. As a boutique innovation consulting firm, we strive to focus on projects that foster technology innovation as well as improving the sustainability performance of companies in order to maximize the impact we have on our society.

Innovation Management
Innovaris was born from the idea that innovation is the way to go. This is especially true in the business landscape of today that is filled with novel technologies, highly competitive products and growing markets that always want more and better solutions for their problems. With this in mind, we are strong believers of innovation across all aspects of businesses and strive to support our clients in gaining new capabilities and perspectives when it comes to venturing into the unknown. In doing so, we work with teams to coordinate innovation sprints, ideation camps and building the innovation capacity of the firm as a whole. We typically start with an innovation audit as a means to conduct a quick scan of the organization, which provides us with valuable insights. We are particularly focused on systems-thinking and involving the entire team when it comes to innovation strategy. However, we don’t only advise on strategy and also like to develop new prototypes and MVP’s as a means to launch new businesses. Supporting teams in designing new products and launching new startups is at the core of what we do. Our venture studio is also prepared to develop such solutions independently on behalf of our clients.
Technology Commercialization
Part of our services offered is to assist startups, SMe’s and corporates in developing new technology products and rolling these out into the market. We are particularly fond of deeptech, be it technology-driven or enabled solutions. We are often approached by entrepreneurs and directors that want to enter a new market or launch a new product in verticals such as FinTech, MedTech or mobility. As a result, we aim to partner with teams for generating market intelligence (market and sector research), developing new products, business modelling, testing beachhead markets, achieving initial P/M fit and validating new business models with reliable data. All of this in line with a clearly articulated growth strategy that serves as the basis for growth and development of the business and its product portfolio.
Sustainability Performance
In addition to technology and innovation, we are strong believers in sustainable development and creating value in a sustainable way. From strategy, audits to performance improvements — we focus on delivering insights and actionable feedback to our clients in order to achieve carbon neutral business models. With the increasing demand from stakeholders such as customers, shareholders, policy-makers, suppliers and NGO’s — companies are exploring new ways to reduce waste, lessen their footprint and maintain a cost-efficient business operation. In a world with limited natural resources, achieving higher efficiencies though circular strategies and revamping supply-chains becomes essential for securing future success. Reaching this balance between financial success and environmental/social development is a core aspect of our approach.

How We Work
We typically work with teams on projects based on one of three different models. The first is a retained model which is very straightforward — we strive to base our fees on tangible milestones and give clients the opportunity to see results early-on. Our pricing is always in line with the value to be generated and results achieved.
At Innovaris we believe that the ROI for any client working with us should be at least 10x the initial investment made.
Thus with this in mind, we seek to collaborate with clients that are results-driven and focused on growing their business further.
The second model we apply is a collaboration on an outcome-only basis. This implies that we collaborate on projects with the incentive of having an impact and a share of the returns achieved. Every project is different though. Hence, we always aim to find tailored pricing models to suit the needs the client.
The third model we use is to develop bespoke projects together with clients. These typically last for a longer period (e.g. 6 months to 2 years) and tends to take the form of a strategic partnership with the client. Developing bespoke projects for us means looking deeply at the growth strategy of the business and aligning the product portfolio with this vision. This allows for the right context for developing new products, trying out new business models and applying novel technologies to solve current market problems in a better way. Such projects also tend to include R&D and market intelligence elements. Hence, the collaboration for such projects is more intensive and requires more input from all parties involved.
In addition to these key areas, we also strive to work with NGO’s, charities, educational institutions, and other stakeholders as a means to widen the impact of the work that we do.
